Meridian Maintenance, Tunbridge Wells and Kent
Walls, woodwork, fascias and fences painted after proper preparation, with weather resistant finishes suited to each surface.
A fresh coat of paint does more than smarten a house up. It protects render, brick and timber from the weather. The finish only lasts if the preparation underneath is right, so the surfaces are cleaned, scraped, filled and sanded before any paint goes on, and we use weather resistant finishes suited to each surface.
Most paint failures start underneath the paint. Flaking old coats, dirt, algae and bare timber all need dealing with before a new coat goes on, otherwise the fresh paint has nothing sound to grip. Cleaning, scraping, filling, sanding and priming bare areas takes time, and it is what makes the finish last.
Masonry paint is made for brick and render. Timber needs an exterior grade paint or stain that can move with the wood as it swells and shrinks through the seasons. A good exterior finish keeps rain out while letting moisture escape from the surface, which is what stops paint from blistering and peeling.
Exterior paint needs dry surfaces and mild temperatures to cure properly. Late spring to early autumn is usually the best window in Kent, and we plan the work around the forecast rather than painting onto damp walls.
We are based in Tunbridge Wells and offer exterior painting and decorating right across Kent, including Tunbridge Wells, Southborough, Tonbridge, Paddock Wood, Edenbridge, Sevenoaks, Marden, Kings Hill, Westerham, West Malling, Cranbrook, Staplehurst, Hawkhurst, Larkfield, Uckfield, Maidstone, Aylesford, Hastings, Ashford. It depends on the surface and how exposed it is. Woodwork on windows, doors and fascias generally needs attention more often than painted walls, especially on sunny and exposed sides of the house. Flaking, fading and bare patches are the signs it is due.
Exterior paint needs dry surfaces and mild temperatures to cure, so most outside painting is done between late spring and early autumn. Small jobs can sometimes be fitted into dry spells at other times of year.
