Our aim
Meridian Maintenance Ltd wants this website to be easy to use for everyone, including people who use a screen reader, magnification, voice control or a keyboard instead of a mouse. We have built it to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.2 at level AA.
What we have done
- Every page works with a keyboard alone, and you can always see where you are on the page.
- A link to skip to the main content is the first thing on every page.
- Text has strong contrast against its background.
- Every photograph has a written description, and decorative graphics are hidden from screen readers.
- Pages use proper headings and landmarks so they are easy to move around.
- Every form field has a visible label, and any errors are explained in words next to the field.
- Text can be enlarged to 200 per cent and the layout still works on a narrow phone screen.
- Animation is switched off for anyone whose device asks for reduced motion.
Known limitations
The map of the areas we cover is a picture. Every town on it is also listed in text, with links, on the same page.
